Now Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Program...

Thank goodness the holiday weekend is over! Not that I don't love the 4th of July and all it stands for but I can do without all the home grown variety of a fireworks display. Did I mention my dogs HATE loud noises. Our neighborhood kiddies have been popping firecrackers for almost two weeks. I am sooo hoping they are over it!

Today was suppose to be my 'get back on schedule' day after a weekend of cooking, cleaning and family entertaining. I seem to have let the whirlwind of festivities interfere with my writing goals and believe me...it doesn't take much to throw me off track! But Internet connection problems have slowed me down this morning and the day is progressing quickly with no writing being done. Looks like something will have to be put off until tomorrow so I can catch up. I hope my family doesn't mind drive thru! : D

Happy 4th!!

Happy 4th!
Looks like a busy weekend around the home front. My daughter will be heading to the beach for the next week which will mean last minute shopping and packing for me (for her). My brother and his family will be coming in tomorrow and why is it you can never see all the dust and clutter until company comes??

I had planned on getting some writing done today but that didn't happen. Hubby decided we needed a trip to Lowes for pending home improvement projects. I just wonder how long it will be before I get my writer's cottage built. I won't hold my breath! Seems the garage remodel will take precedence. Maybe we should turn the garage into a home office....sounds like a good plan to me!
Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Weekend!

Day 13 (Lucky Friday)

Friday the 13Th; my lucky day. My daughter was born 17 years ago on the 13Th of June. Today her birthday just happens to fall on a Friday. Since her birth the number 13 is a lucky number for me. She was healthy and beautiful....what more could a mother ask for. So today was spent doing a little last minute shopping and for her it was slightly more difficult. What I might like and what she might like are worlds apart! Not that I don't have good taste...she is just PICKY. But what teenagers aren't? I think the purchase of a new cell phone with all the bells and whistles just might have been the perfect gift.

I am off tomorrow for the monthly RWA/HOD chapter meeting. We are so fortunate to have a famous editor as our speaker. She will be accepting pitches after the meeting but due to my enormous procrastination ability, I will not be one of them. A good dose of self-discipline or a good kick in the butt may be what I need to get my manuscript moving along. And I am sure there are several willing participates to provide the kicking process!!

Have a great 13Th!

Let's Get It Started--Day 1

Today is the day. No more procrastinating. No more excuses. I start my novel today.

There is a song by The Black Eyed Peas called 'Let's Get It Started' and these words always caught my interest:
To lose this inhibition
Follow your intuition
Free your inner soul
And break away from tradition

That's what writing is all about. Freeing yourself and letting go. Believe me-- it's not an easy task but it is doable. Trust in yourself and have faith. Turn off that whining inner critic and just write. Let the words flow from your heart to your fingers. First drafts are for fixing. Blank pages can't be fixed.
